Nearly 3 out of 4 young people in India are being left behind — disconnected from the digital world and denied the chance to learn, earn, and thrive (Comprehensive Annual Modular Survey, 2024). STEMSUP is here to change that.
In an AI-driven, digital world, how can young people learn when they don’t even know how to get online? This gap isn’t just real — it’s growing fast. The divide between rural and urban youth — and more critically, between genders — is stark. In the face of this crisis, opportunity is becoming a privilege rather than a right.
STEMSUP Education & Environment Foundation, founded in 2024 as a Section 8 non-profit organisation under the Companies Act, 2013, is on a mission to close this divide — working at the grassroots to ensure every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education, foundational STEM skills, digital literacy, and a sustainable future.

At STEMSUP, we work at the grassroots to support orphaned, first-generation, and marginalised children with access to quality education, hands-on STEM learning, digital literacy, and the knowledge to care for their environment.

Meet Our Founder
Omprakash hails from a small village in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, where opportunities were limited and challenges were many. Growing up in a humble background, higher education often felt like a distant dream. But with resilience, support, and a deep desire to create change, he made his way from that village to London, where he earned his Master’s degree from the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science — an institution that has produced 20 Nobel Laureates and numerous global leaders.
Over the years, his professional journey spans the public, scientific, and international development sectors. Omprakash, served as a civil servant in the Government of Tamil Nadu, a Research Fellow at the Indian Space Research Organisation, and contributed to global development through the United Nations.
These personal and professional experiences — from growing up in an underserved village to working on global policy organisation — gave Omprakash a unique perspective on the systemic inequalities many children still face today. This inspired him to found the STEMSUP Education & Environment Foundation — a nonprofit driven by the vision that every child deserves access to quality education, digital tools, and the opportunity to build a better future, no matter where they come from.
Today, under Omprakash’s leadership, STEMSUP is more than a foundation — it’s a growing movement powered by students, volunteers, and communities coming together to build a more inclusive and sustainable world.
